Melissa Fischer, age 77, passed away in Denver, Colorado, on August 26, 2026. Born in Syracuse, New York, on November 24, 1948, Melissa grew up in Central New York, where she graduated from Jamesville-DeWitt High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Syracuse University.

Melissa moved to Santa Barbara, California, in 1973, where she married, raised two children, and owned a successful industrial hardware business. She later returned briefly to Syracuse before moving to Denver to be closer to her daughter.

She is survived by her daughter, Amanda Tropp; her brothers, Robin Fischer (Gayle) and Eliot Fischer; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Sally Fischer, and her son, Alexander Tropp.

Melissa was an avid reader who loved skiing and traveling and found joy in spending time with family and friends and cooking for them. Her humor, "tell it like it is" honesty, and kindness will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider planting a tree in her memory.
